Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Labradoodle?
The first Labradoodles were bred in 1988 in Australia by Wally Conron, the head breeder for the Australian Guide Dog Association. They were originally bred to be guide dogs for people with allergies.
A first generation Labradoodle (F1) is a cross between a standard Poodle and a Labrador Retriever. They tend to be low shedders and are ideal for families with mild allergies. F1b Labradoodles are a cross between a F1 Labradoodle and a Poodle and have minimal shedding and are ideal for families with more severe allegies. We breed F1B Labradoodles.
What is a Labradoodles' temperament?
Labradoodles tend to be good with children and are easily trained. They usually get along well with other dogs. They are very bright, social, and even-tempered.
Size
Our Standard-sized Labradoodles will be 45 pounds or more as adults.
Living Environment & Exercise
Labradoodles enjoy medium amounts of exercise. Their coats require occasional groomings. They can live in the city, the suburbs, or in the country. Since they were bred to work with people, they thrive when they are around and interact with people.
Life Span
With good care and exercise, Labradoodles generally live between 13-15 years.
Grooming Requirements
F1B labradoodles have longer fur so weekly brushing is necessary.
What Group are Labradoodles a part of?
Most organizations place Labradoodles within the Service Dogs or Field Dogs groups.
Are there "Pure-Bred" Labradoodles?
Currently, there are no established standards for "Pure-Bred" Labradoodles. Be careful of breeders who list their Labradoodle puppies
as "pure-breds."
